Gunmen behead LP campaign director in Abia

Gunmen have brutally beheaded a chieftain of the Labour Party—LP, in Abia State, Mr Maduka Zachary.

The unfortunate incident happened in Uturu, Isuikwuato local government area of Abia State.

Maduka this medium gathered, was the campaign director of honourable Amobi Ogah, member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi federal constituency in the House of Representatives.

Though, Amobi was recently sacked by the election petition tribunal.

Maduka was reportedly sitting out with his associates at a drinking joint in his community, Akpukpa in Uturu when men numbering over 10 invaded the spot.

The underworld men started shooting on arriving the scene and the people immediately scampered for safety. Mr Maduka who tried to resist them, also took to his heels when he noticed they will overpower him due to their number.

The criminal elements went after the Labour Party chieftain, who was part of the local security network tackling the rising insecurity in Uturu, slaughtered him and left with his head.

Meanwhile, the chairman of Labour Party in Abia State, Ceekay Igara, confirmed the incident.

He said that he had spoken with the LP local government chairman in the area who also confirmed it to him.

”I have spoken with the Chairman of our party in the LGA and he confirmed it. He said it might not be unconnected with insecurity because the man was strong in the fight against insecurity and cultism in that region.”

Abia State police command is yet to issue a statement in respect to the development.
