Army captures killer of house wife in Kaduna

Military authorities under the command of operation Safe Haven, have arrested the suspected killer of one Mrs Dorathy Jonathan in the Southern Kaduna area of Kaduna State.

The army in a statement disclosed that Mrs Deborah was brutally murdered on Friday, September 1, in cold blood while fetching firewood at Afana village in Zango Kataf local government area of the state.

The arrest was announced through the official X handle of the military on Thursday.

Part of the statement reads, “In line with Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) Major General AE Abubakar resolve to bring all perpetrators of crime to justice in Southern Kaduna and environ, following the stakeholders’ engagement on 10 September 2023, troops of OPSH have captured the murderer of one Mrs Dorathy Jonathan in Southern Kaduna area of Kaduna State, who was murdered on Friday 1 September 2023 in cold blood while fetching firewood at Afana village in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of the State.”

It further said the alleged killer, Lot Dauda, who confessed to committing the crime, alongside an accomplice (name withheld), now at large, was arrested through a manhunt launched by troops of OPSH.

Dauda’s arrest was made possible based on credible intelligence obtained after which the troops immediately swung into action.

The suspect narrated that he approached the victim while working on farmland and wanted to have sex with her. He said Deborah resisted him, which led to her killing.

Meanwhile, the army said efforts are ongoing to arrest Dauda’s accomplice while the arrested suspect would be charged to court once the investigation is completed.
