Tinubu abscond as Obi, Atiku attend NBA general conference in Lagos

Presidential candidates in the 2023 elections on Monday attended the Nigerian Bar Association’s annual general conference in Lagos.

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party’s Atiku Abubakar were present at the conference.

Recall that the NBA in a statement had earlier said two other presidential candidates, Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) did not confirm their availability for the conference.

Although, vice-presidential candidate of the APC, Senator Kassim Shettima, was present at the conference.

The 2022 NBA Annual General Conference, with the theme “Bold Transitions”, is being held at the Eko Atlantic City until August 26.

Meanwhile, other dignitaries in attendance include the NBA president, Olumide Akpata, the incoming president of the Body, Yakubu Maikyau, and oldest female lawyer in Nigeria, Folake Solanke (SAN).

Also present are The chief judge of Lagos state, Justice Kazeem Alogba, who is also representing the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, and the Attorney-General of Lagos, Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN) who is representing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

This year’s conference has several technical sessions where speakers will lead conversations primarily aimed at envisaging the future of the legal profession in particular and Nigeria in general within the context of a rapidly changing world.

Among the scheduled sessions is a highly anticipated plenary for the key presidential candidates in the 2023 general elections to speak on the topic, “Democratic Transitions in 21st Century Nigeria: 2023 and Beyond.”
