Prominent businessmen from the Southwest Nigeria are set to officially takeover New Telegraph —a national newspaper in Nigeria, with a circulation of up to 100,000 copies per day.

Though details of the takeover is sketchy, it was reliably gathered that businessmen led by Kunle Gidado, Ayo Babatunde and Niyi Babatunde have finalized plans with the owners of New Telegraph for a smooth handover by October 2023. The mode of transfer as gathered could be Share swap or cash payment.

The New Telegraph targets Nigerian and foreign readers in and around the country’s urban centres, as well as internationally, and aims to provide objective and incisive coverage of pressing political and socio-cultural issues. The paper features prominent domestic and foreign columnists.

Founded in 2013 by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, the board of New Telegraph is chaired by Kunle Gidado with Ayo Aminu as the Managing Director/ Editor-in-Chief.
