Everybody, especially Peter Mbah, knows that his fate hangs danglingly on one key piece of evidence. The evidence in question depends on whether the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) would come to the tribunal and tell the truth about the NYSC certificate that Peter Mbah presented to INEC.
The case between Honourable Chijioke Edeoga and Mr. Peter Mbah is quite easy to understand, even for a layman. Mbah presented an essential certificate and used it to qualify himself to run in the elections. It was later discovered that the NYSC certificate was fake, a glaring forgery. The only entity to confirm the truth about the certificate is the NYSC itself. Everybody expected that NYSC officials would come to the tribunal and tell the truth. However, Mbah is afraid of what the NYSC would say if they come to testify. Mbah, for obvious reason, does not want NYSC to say pim. What did Mbah do next? It will shock you.
Mbah hired a senior lawyer and sent him to Abuja to stop NYSC from coming to testify in Enugu because he is afraid that they might tell the truth. Can you imagine that? And, truly, his lawyer filed an action in court in Abuja telling the court to stop NYSC from revealing the truth. The case Mbah filed against the NYSC at the Federal High Court, Abuja, is known as Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/611/2023, with the Honourable Justice Inyang Ekwo as the presiding judge. They field this action secretly by a means known as ex parte application. That is; they did not immediately inform anybody that they were filing the action. It was a sneaky operation.
After all said and done, the court refused to stop the NYSC. In a clear language, the judge said: “I will not entertain any such application”. The judge refused to stop the NYSC. That is Peter Mbah’s worst nightmare.
Based on the counter affidavit we have sighted, the NYSC has maintained that the certificate being bandied is fake. This is a technical knockout against Peter Mbah. Evidently, Mbah believed it was important for him to stop the NYSC from coming to testify. He tried to gag them. Now, that he has failed to achieve that, he has lost something so important for his case.
Today, the NYSC will most likely testify and Mbah will be doomed. We are following this case and will be reporting updates.
