2023: Orji Kalu wins APC ticket for Abia North

Chief Whip of the 9th Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Saturday emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress Senatorial primary by votes

Polling a total of 777 votes out of the 777, the former Abia Governor was certified and declared winner in Ohafia, headquarter of the zone by Chairman APC primary election committee, Hon Paul Uche. The other aspirants Fabian Nwankwo and Emeaba scored zero votes respectively

The election which was conducted under the supervision of the Independent National Electoral  (INEC), and monitored by the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), The Department of Security Service (DSS), and Nigerian Civil Defence Corps and other related security agencies commenced at about 11am with accreditation of Delegates commencing at 11:58am, voting operation began at 12:00 PM and was concluded by 1:PM

To further affirm his victory, Kalu who recently stepped down from the Presidential contest, secured the mandate of party faithfuls who trooped out to participate in the exercise conducted via direct primaries in accordance with the directive of National Headquarters of the party.

Reputed for his sterling performance at the Senate within his first term, the Abia-North Senator was returned unopposed as other aspirants namely Fabian Nwankwo and Ijeagu Emeaba voluntarily stepped down for him.

With over 65 new community roads, water Boreholes, construction and reconstruction of schools and hospitals, empowerments including 35 notable bills and motions to his credit, Kalu is expected to build on his achievements in his second term in due course of his emergence in the 2023 General elections.
