Okezie Ikpeazu, Abia State governor

Leaders of thought from Bende Local Government Area of Abia State under the aegis of Bende Progressives and Peace Initiative (BPPI) has slammed Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for abandoning the council area since he was elected in 2015.

The group in a statement signed by Chief Uche Amadi on Friday morning warned Ikpeazu to desist from playing dirty politics with Bende Local Government Area.

According to the group, Ikpeazu’s decision to announce emergency projects for the council area few months to the end of his administration was deceptive, wicked, insensitive and dirty politics taken too far.

“Bravo! Mr Ikpeazu for thinking you can deceive Bende Local Government Area. Bende will support those that worked for us. Take your promises elsewhere.

“How can a governor who didn’t remember Bende for over 7 years in office suddenly wake up few months to election? We cannot be deceived by anyone including Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and those around him. We are wiser.

“Around 2016, days to the senatorial rerun election between Senator Mao Ohuabunwa and Distinguished Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Ikpeazu flagged off the Lohum-Nkpa-Umuezike road, contracted to 4ND Vision Ltd. Bende people rolled out the drums, jubilated and eulogized him with songs and dance. Till date, nothing was done on that road. Is that the kind of people we should trust?

“We are commending Bende leaders like Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and Hon. Benjamin Kalu who have done well for our people in less than four years.

“The era of deceptive politics is gone. We can only appreciate politicians coming to Bende to campaign with their scorecard. We don’t need people with fake promises,” the group said.
