Nigeria in total darkness as power grid collapses

Nigeria has again been thrown into darkness after the national grid system, operated by the Transmission Company of Nigeria—TCN from Osogbo in Osun State collapsed.
Some of the nation’s Distribution Companies confirmed that the grid collapsed in the wee hours of Thursday, as most of their feeders are out.
The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC—EEDC in a notice said that “a total system collapse” happened at 12:40am on Thursday.
EEDC confirmed the grid collapse in a notice signed by it’s Head, of Corporate Communications, Emeka Ezeh.
Part of the notice reads, “The EEDC wishes to inform her esteemed customers of a total system collapse which occurred at 12:40 am today, September 14, 2023.
“This has resulted in the loss of supply currently being experienced across the network. Due to this development, all our interface TCN (Transmission Company of Nigeria) stations are out of supply, and we are unable to provide service to our customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo states.
“We are on standby awaiting detailed information of the collapse and restoration of supply from the National Control Centre, Osogbo.”
