Enugu state governorship election petition tribunal, is set to deliver judgment in the petition lodged by the governorship candidate of the Labour Party—LP, Mr Chijioke Edeoga, and his party against the victory of Mr Peter Mbah, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party—PDP, as the duly elected governor of the state in the last election.

The tribunal which is headed by Justice Kudirat Murayo Akano, will deliver their ruling on Thursday, 21st September, 2023.

Edeoga had approached the tribunal to disqualify Peter Mbah and declare him the rightful winner of the election.

The Labour Party candidate argues that the PDP candidate is not qualified to stand for the election and also did not score the highest number of lawful votes cast.

However, Mbah in his counter argument, told the tribunal that Edeoga was not validly nominated as the governorship candidate of the LP and lacked the locus to challenge his victory.

Meanwhile, ahead of the court ruling, the political atmosphere is highly charged in Enugu State as the duo anxiously wait to see what will become of their political fate tomorrow
