A community leader, Chief Mba Ebin has expressed confidence that the people of Okon-Aku in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia state will deliver massive votes for the Chief Whip of the Senate in the 2023 general election.

He noted that the community won’t be ungrateful to Kalu who fixed the Okon-Aku road that every politician campaigned with prior to the administration of Orji Uzor Kalu in 1999.

He stated this on Tuesday evening when he met with selected stakeholders from Okamu ward, noting that Kalu has been magnanimous to the people of Okamu ward and Ohafia at large.

According to him, politicians campaigned with the Okon-Aku road project because of its strategic economic importance to the Ohafia people.

He explained that since the implementation of the Marshall plan in 1948, after the Second World War, it has become clear to any serious-minded politician that infrastructure provision is critical to development, growth, wealth creation, employment and prosperity.

According to him, investment in infrastructure is the most legitimate way to distribute wealth in any economy.

He said, “This is why it is not surprising that during campaigns for elections and after elections, you will find discussions not only centering around roads, shools, hospitals, water supply, rail and power supply to be provided. Kalu is an enigma when it comes to provision of critical infrastructure to his people.

“The last time Senator Orji Uzor Kalu visited Ania ward, the President General of Okon Development Union reminded everyone on how politicians including Okpara, Mbakwe, Onu campaigned with their road without executing it. It was only when Senator Orji Uzor Kalu came in as a governor that the road was constructed including the one at Amuma and Amangwu; all in Okamu ward.

“Okon-Aku will continue to be his stronghold because they know that Kalu is the best at all times. He empowered them as a governor and he is doing it today as a senator. He has given them solar street lights, renovated schools and distributed education and agricultural materials, gave scholarships to Ohafia youths and empowered their women and youths with different vocational skills. Okon is in the bag for Kalu and it will continue to be so.”
